HYGROMA OR GANGLION: CURRENT STATUS OF THE ISSUE IN HAND SURGERY
An analysis of the literature on the origin and treatment of hygroma and / or ganglion showed that these are synonyms describing the same disease, encoded in ICD-10 as M 67.4. They are by cystic (mucoid) degeneration of the perisinovial tissue of the joint capsule and tendon sheath and are one of the clinical manifestations of degenerative- dystrophic disease of the wrist joint. Despite the numerous works devoted to hygroma (ganglia) of the wrist and rear of the hand, so far there is no clear idea of the pathogenesis of the hygroma - the ganglion. Detected damage to the scapholunate ligament during surgical treatment of hygroma - ginglia, indicate their relationship with the damage zone of this ligament. This observation requires study and may change the paradigm in the treatment of ganglion of the wrist joint.
