Psychological charakteristics of the intellectual and personal potential of the research university postgraduates, studying different fields of science

The article presents the results of the research work of the intellectual and personal potential of postgraduate students of various fields of study. Principal components, characterizing the peculiarities of each group of young people selected by using the factor analysis, are discussed. The study involved 84 post-graduate students who were divided into three groups in accordance with the fields of scientific training (natural-scientific, physico-mathematical, humane studies). Age of post-graduate students varies from 22 to 32 years. The choice of research methods was determined by the possibility of their use in the mode of Express-diagnostics. Intellectual potential was measured by progressive matrices Raven and the short version of a SAT-M (N. Koichu); personal potential was measured using a widely used for the research purposes methods: dial «self-determination of personality» (DM) B. Sheldon, adaptation and modification E.N. Osin, questionnaire of self-organization activities (OSD) E.J. Mandrikova, test the resilience S. Maddi; adaptation D.A. Leontiev and E.I. Rasskazova. Processing of the results was performed using SPSS software, Statistics 19. Combined analysis allowed us to highlight common features characteristic for all three groups. In most pronounced in each of the groups factor includes indicators of resilience and self-expression. This suggests that young people who choose scientific research work as a priority, regardless of the directions of training, are able to see in permanent changes in the new opportunities and ways of solving problems in life. They have an internal resource that can confide in deciding the future, in situations of uncertainty. Their desire and aspiration correspond to the lived reality. In addition to the common features of the differences between the Humanities graduate students, and post-graduate students of natural-science and physics and mathematical directions with respect to the relationship of psychological characteristics of the intellectual potential. Fixed dispersal of indicators of General intelligence and mathematical abilities by different factors in the Humanities can testify in this category of post-graduate students does not exist definite correlations between General and special (in this case, the mathematical) components of the intellectual potential. While in graduate students of natural-science and physics and mathematical directions of this dependence is much more pronounced. The fact that humane studies postgraduate students have a strong correlation of general intelligence and authenticity (the characteristic of a personal capacity) with the expressed negative dependence with another indicator of personal potential -determination, may indicate a typical for the humane studies postgraduate students reflexivity and value-sense of fullness search of professional identity.
