Peculiarities psychological readiness to maternity among female students
Maternity in psychological science is one of the challenging and the most studied problems. The research of psychological readiness of women to maternity presented in the works of G.G. Philippova, J.E. Scoromnaya, T.A. Gurianova, V.V. Ivakina and others. According to the authors the willingness to maternity exists in a latent form as an inner position before pregnancy comes, and it determines the successful realization of the mother's role during pregnancy and after child birth. Student age is the procreational resource of our society and it is the most important stage in parenthood formation. The process of sexual maturation ends, and a lot of important psychological neoplasms are developing. The process of value system and identity formation goes on. The organism of women aged 18-21 is ready for birth, although the lack of knowledge in healthy way of life, pregnancy and upbringing matters exists. The responsible attitude of potential mothers to the birth of a child significantly affects the mental health of future generations, and it determines the importance of the research. Despite the fact that there are many approaches to the problem of psychological readiness to motherhood, it is still among the timeliest ones due to the need in development and implementation of training programs for readiness to motherhood for young women to motherhood. We conducted a research in order to study the peculiarities of psychological readiness to motherhood among students of East-Siberian Academy of Education (Irkutsk). The total number of respondents is 47 women aged from 17 to 20 years, who have no children at the moment of examination. Our multicenter study included, in particular, questionnaire survey, pictural tests «My baby and I», «I'm as a child and my mother» by G.G. Philippova; the test of relationship for women planning pregnancy by I. Dobryakov (form f). In general the research demonstrated the correlation between the number of children in the family of a respondent and her readiness for pregnancy and the desired number of children. The respondents from families with one child and many children significantly are planning to have tree or more children. During the process of determination the most important life goals the correlation between maternity, education and wealth was educed. We determined the significant differences on "the importance of a child" indicator, the ideal contact and distance between a group with favorable maternity role and a group with symptom of concern. There is also a trend of significant connection on the grounds of "contact with a child" and "contact with the mother" indicators in projective pictural tests. Our assumption about the inequality of psychological readiness to maternity among students aged from 17 to 20 years, who had no experience of maternity, was confirmed.
