Peculiarities of emotional system response in paroxysmal brain conditions
The focus of the analysis is the facial gesture of a person as a psychophysiological apparatus of a feedback mechanism in the structure of basal emotions. The baseline of this research is the perception of reverse facial connection as an element of physiological organization, presented by a number of conditions, coded mimic patterns. The article raises the issue of mimic patterns distortion, which is investigated within the frameworks of solving the problem of emotion blockage and their regulatory function. The experimental group included secondarily generalized form epilepsy patients without frontal site, mainly with partial seizures, with no signs of dementia. The experiment included a block of myographic investigations. The main aim of the investigation is to reveal the manifestation of feedback in the structure of basal emotional regulation system in epilepsy. Brief myographic schemes of measurement in 3-4 leads were worked out. On their basis tensions of facial muscles for every basal emotion (anger, fear, sadness, joy, disgust) was registered. A series of experimental tests has been carried out in the process of research: 1) the facial background was fixed directly before the experiment; 2) an automatic response of facial muscles during the period of representation of emotionally significant situation; 3) voluntary movements of facial expressions in the process of emotion depicting without sensual penetration; 4) voluntary reactions of facial muscles in the perception of photos of faces, partially expressing basal emotions. It was defined that distortion on such emotions as sadness and anger are observed more often. As a result, particular regularities of facial expression manifestation in epilepsy are defined. In particular, there are revealed typical abnormalities of mimic patters on such basal emotions as anger, fear, and sadness. If there are non-typical reactions or their complete absence, it witnesses about the blockage of the emotion in focus. Comparing the results of the tests, it was cleared out that the emotions of anger and joy, which were defined by the probationers in the test with the presentation of faces, also presented the complete mimic pattern in the test with the depicting. Experimental situations, in which the "correct" mimic patterns of perceived emotions at faulty estimations of incentive material or the absence of answer of the probationers are registered, are of particular interest. The opposite type of reactions - correct estimations at the presence of signs of abnormalities of mimic pattern - is also observed. These reactions are the most interesting material, which illuminates a dissociation of sensual and rational cognition at the level of emotional regulation of basal systems in the structure of functional systems. The identification of these facts and the definition of secure links - emotional systems with feedback characteristics -make it possible to differentiate the pathological block of affects from psychoemotional one making the backbone of the so called stability affect.
