Psychological vectors of inanity and alienation at adolescents' lives
Rendering psychological aid to adolescents, we have faced with the experience of life inanity among adolescents, that involves three interconnected problem fields: 1. The deficit of empathy as a capability of being with Another one and staying himself at the same time. We suppose that empathy is not a manifestation of relation, but a condition of intentional conformity. Empathic conformity needs existential depth and involvement in co-being: • The authentic presence lies in the questions like «Am I?» «When am I?» «Where am I?» «For whom am I?». • Self-determination, determination of names and affiliation are concluded in questions: «Who am I?» «Whom I live?» «Whose am I? ». • Understanding of senses les in questions «For whom do I live?» and «What for de I live?». Correspondence and timeliness. One's own faiths and myths realization and their differentiation from reality. Acceptance and honest reflection. • Infusion of eternity in one's life across the words told and deeds made forever. Fidelity. Losing the capability of being with Another, an adolescent loses the possibility to determinate authentically himself and his boundaries. He is in thrall to his fantasies, which are close to delirium sometimes. At the same time the adolescent loses his distinctive character, his uniqueness and, finally, loses his life by dissolving in Another and obeying his will and essence. 2. Lack of will (including the will to meaning, the will to freedom, the will to self-determination). The paradoxicality of adolescent experience of inanity is that an adolescent proclaims his right to liberty. However, he believes that somebody else can (and, often, even must) give him freedom. The lack of will to meaning, freedom, and self-determination is experienced by adolescents like a prohibition of living their own lives. Growing-up happens at the moment of this paradox realization and going out to a new level of self-realization and one's role in the creation of his own life. 3. Lack of social initiative in the form of alienation. The experience of alienation has different event-trigger background and rich emotional connotation. Alienation is at the same time the way to personal life meaning of an adolescent and the danger of losing this meaning through disappointment and the choice of existential isolation. The lack of social initiative leads adolescents to a blind alley of total loneliness and despair. When we help to an adolescent sustain risks, connected with meeting Another one, we help him gain his identity and courage of being. Overcoming the inanity is the synonymic process of life creativity. When an adolescent determines the boundaries between ourselves and the world, he realizes and makes his own decisions, he makes efforts to realize his values, then he find the meaning of life and its value.
