Individual merits as fundamentals for meaningfulness and purposefulness of self-organization activity
This paper studies activities of self-organization which are manifested in the peculiarities of human perception and the use of time by people in their life. The results of the empirical research on the role of virtues of character, individual merits in the development of meaning-fulness and purposefulness in their activities were presented. The study is implemented in line with the positive psychology, and it is based on the idea of values as basic fundamentals of human behavior. Sample and methods The research was conducted in 2013-2015 and involved 658 residents of 4 Siberian cities: Tomsk, Kemerovo, Barnaul, Lesosibirsk. The following measures were used: 1. The "Questionnaire of 24 virtues" developed by E.N. Osin on the basis of a questionnaire "A profile of personal values" and Values-In-Action by K. Peterson and M. Seligman. 2. "Questionnaire of self-organizing activity" by E.Y. Mandrikova. 3. "Methods of differential diagnosis of reflexivity" by D.A. Leontyev. Statistical data processing was performed using correlation analysis, factor analysis with method of Principal components with Varimax normalized rotation, and cluster analysis with Ward's method "Euclidean distances". Results and discussions Correlation analysis of the data showed that the different value orientations of people are not connected with a particular way of perceiving and structuring their life. However, recognition of individual virtues such as: "Life energy", "Self", "Persistence", and "Courage" is an important internal factor for development of self-organizing activity. Factor analysis using Principal components method with Varimax normalized rotation revealed a meaningful relation between scales of "Questionnaire of self-organizing activity" and "Questionnaire of 24 virtues". Three factors were identified: "Commitment", "Focus on the present" and "Rationality of activity". Cluster analysis by Ward's method "Euclidean distances" allowed finding typological features of self-organization activities in different groups of respondents. Four clusters were identified which differed in the level of self-organization activity. Maximum estimates for all parameters of self-organization were among those young people, who assessed the importance and expressiveness of their own personal virtues higher than others. Subjects who were focused on self-efficacy, and whose self-esteem of these characteristics was low had a lower predisposition to self-organization activities.
