Using dynamic fractal based on sound signal for actualization the altered states of consciousness

Its further development was connected with the researches in the field of holomorphic The article considers the problem of actualization of creative states of human consciousness. Its solution becomes possible by the transition to the altered states of consciousness (ASC), and studying the communication between them and basic state of consciousness. The relevance of the research is based on the process of transition of the world community to a new technological way in terms of the challenges that arise in these conditions. Designing the future through foresight mechanisms allows setting benchmarks for forward-looking research projects and developments. One of the current trends will include the development of software which learns the states of consciousness. That is why currently it is important to proceed with the deployment cycle of research projects, which will form the basis for such technologies. Appointment of such technologies is the ability of causing (inducing) arbitrary the altered states of consciousness (ASC). This opens up the possibility of using computer psychotechnologies in order to induce such states of consciousness as: high concentration, relaxation, and enhanced creativity. Our research group has developed a technology of dynamic visual rendering of fractals based on the controlled audio signal. The core of the technology is the algorithms of quick creation of fractal images depending on an external parameter. The use of parallel computing allows building fractal animations with sufficient speed (> 40fps). We made a hypothesis of causing the ASC by viewing an audiovisual composition. The mathematical theory of fractals is rooted in the works of the late XlXth century, during which the examples of continuous nowhere differentiable functions dynamics which studies the behavior of complex iterated maps. The results are recorded as a fractal of the Mandelbrot and Julia sets. By the fractal we mean some structure, parts of which are in some sense similar to the whole. We provided the theoretical constructs (psychosynthesis, spectrum of consciousness), which are underlying in the concepts of the ASC. The definition of the ASC, as well as a number of characteristics they are associated with, were also provided. We posed the hypothesis of causing the ASC by viewing and observing the dynamic fractal. The characteristics of ASC allowed applying the method of qualitative content analysis. An empirical study was conducted on a sample of 61 participants. During the processing of the results the presence of at least two of the eight characteristics of ASC for each participant were revealed. Thus, the posed hypothesis was confirmed on the level of the qualitative study of the emerging characteristics. Further steps of the research consist of applying quantitative methods, of studying the possibility of switching into the creative states of consciousness, and of specifying potential technology applications.
