Psychological berries in research activity of junior scientists
The objectives of the research were to reveal meaning content of psychological barriers in research activity of junior scientists, to define regulatory-personality indicators of typical methods of organization of their own activity, and self-esteem of personality deficits of effective research activity. The study enrolled 130 scientists-beginners (postgraduate students and masters) of high schools of Tomsk ranging in age from 21 to 35 years (53 men and 77 women). Research methods were: open-ended questions of the questionnaire, developed for the tasks of the research; personality differential technique by Ch. Osgood (adapted by coworkers of the Bekhterev V.M. Psychoneurological Instituted; questionnaire "Style of Behavior Self-Regulation " by Morosanova V.I.; processing methods such as content-analysis and mathematical statistics were used. The study resulted in revealing eight main meaning categories opening the content of barriers of junior scientists in research activity. Frequently found psychological barriers were as follows: difficulties in organization of their own time-management; difficulties in structuring the research work; difficulties in search of information; difficulties associated with experiences of objective and subjective circumstances. Necessary conditions of effective research work as reported by scientists-beginners were as follows: leisure, informational support, cash resources, scientific supervisor, scientific subject, and team. Personality deficits might be as follows: insufficient self-control, low level of formation of regulatory flexibility, low level of self-sufficiency in organizing their own activity, low self-esteem, dependence, passivity, and inertness. Positive interrelationship of indicators of regulatory-personality characteristics of the process of self-regulation with indicators of self-esteem has been identified. The findings may be a basis for methodical development and realization of programs of psychological counseling in the process of formation of research activity of scientists-beginners.
