The jigets: a great history of a small people

The reviewed "The Documents and Materials on the History of Jigetia (1750-1868)" describes a short yet quite dynamic and rich history of Jigetia. The comprehensive collection allows tracing the local transformations in the Jiget society in the context of the complicated ethno-poLiticaL life of the Black Sea region in the early modern period. The published materials give a more objective representation of the much-vexed questions of the Caucasian War. Due to a Large number of sources as weLL as a great scope of issues discussed the reader can carry out an independent and profound study of the compLicated past of the country.
