King Yuriy Lvovych on pages of west european chronicles
The article deals with the analysis of West European chronicles of XIV-XV centuries, which contain mentions about Yuriy (Georgiy) Lvovych (1252/1257-1308), who is also well known in history as “rex Russiae et principis Lodomeriae”. Person of this ruler is one of the most uninvestigated duke's characters in the history of Galych-Volynian principality. For this reason every mention about him and his diplomacy in historical sources is very useful for successive researching of this important theme. In the article we discussed the formation of the Galych-Polish union at the beginning of XIV century. Also the analysis of the struggle for the Hungarian Patrimony was done. Researching of this subject is very important to understanding and investigating of diplomacy of «rex Russiae» Yuriy Lvovych at the time of his reign. Unfortunately, the lack of historical sources does not allow to form the detailed portrait of this Galych-Volynian ruler. Further scientific debates involving new sources will surely shed more light on this important issue.
