The Yassy-Kishinev Military Strategies - the most brilliant offensive operation of WWII and its Interpretation in current Rumanian historiography

One of the most important tasks that set itself the highest Soviet military and political leadership in the summer of 1944, was the defeat of the German-Romanian Army Group "Southern Ukraine" and the liberation of Soviet Moldova and a number of countries located on the lower reaches of the great European river Danube. In this context, it should be recalled that since its inception, Moldovans and Rusyns in XlV-th century, Moldova has always been a multi-ethnic state. Based on this postulate, it should be clear conclusion that the Jassy-Kishinev Offensive was in the truest sense of the word salvation for the Moldovan people and its statehood.
