The 4th siberian advanced medical-nutritional detachment of Tomsk on the south-western front (1915-1916)
In the article, on the basis of research literature and publications in the Tomsk newspaper "Siberian Life", there is reconstructed the history of the creation and activity of the 4th Siberian Advanced Medical and Nutritional Detachment of Tomsk on the South-Western front in 1915-1916. Created at the initiative of the Siberian Society, which helped the wounded, the money collected from donations by various institutions and individuals, the ALL-Russian Union of Cities provided medical assistance to the wounded soldiers at the front and improved the overall health and sanitary conditions of military units. Medical care as weLL as food was provided to the Local populace including the Rusins. The personneL of the detachment consisted mainLy of the inhabitants of the Province of Tomsk and Siberia. The Tomsk pubLic was kept in constant touch with the unit. It organized the coLLection of donations, cLothes, medicines and gifts. It is concLuded that the work of the Tomsk MedicaL and NutritionaL detachment as weLL as other such groups at the South-Western Front undoubtedLy contributed to the maintenance of the combat readiness of miLitary units and the successfuL offensive of the Russian Army during the BrusiLov Breakthrough in 1916.
