The article describes Nicholas II's trip to Galicia in April, 1915. The authors consider the events in the context of political struggle in the Russian Empire that was supposed to determine whether the territory should develop as a part of Russian Poland, with considerable autonomy from the central authority bodies, or integrated in the Russian Empire.
