Morphonology of Rusin: Current State and Research Results
Using selected examples of Rusin nouns, adjectives and verbs, the paper defines morphophonology as a relatively new approach to the morphemic structure of words. The authors were inspired by Czech and Rusin linguists and their perception of morphophonology as an interdisciplinary field connecting phonology and morphology. Morphonology is a boundary discipline between phonology and morphology. If phonology examines phonemes and their function in the language system and mophology examines the verbal forms in the language system, the subject of morphonology research is phonemes in their relationship with morphemes and word forms. In order to go from phonology to grammar, it is not important to know the specific meaning of morph, but it is important to know whether or not that meaning exists. The content of meaning then appears on the road from the word (or its shape) to grammar.
