The image of Motherland in the civil lyrics by Aleksandr Pavlovich

The article discusses the archetypal image of the Motherland in the civil poetry by the Rusin enlightener Aleksandr Ivanovich Pavlovich, epitomized as the poet's small homeland (Makovitsa), the common Slavic Homeland - Slavia, and the original Homeland (Russia). The personification of the Motherland as Mother in A. Pavlovich's appeals to the historical and cultural heritage of the Rusin people and helps to reveal the problems (language policy, national identity, emigration, historical memory) that A. Pavlovich's compatriots repeatedly encountered in reality. The author argues that Motherland epitomised as Mother allows the Rusin educator to influence the reader's perception of the issues raised in his poetry on both emotional and rational levels, which enhances the effect of poetry on the audience. The author concludes that the personification of the Motherland in A. Pavlovich's civil lyrics should be considered as a condition for the genesis of national Rusin literature, as a fact of its inclusion not only in the Slavic, but also in the world literary process, and as an effective way to preserve and broadcast the historical and cultural heritage of Rusins.
