Russkoe plemya v Avstro-Vengrii. Galitsiya. Bukovina. Vengriya [The Russian Tribe in Austria-Hungary. Galicia. Bukovina. Hungary]
In his book "Slavic World. Political and Economic Position of the Slavic Peoples Before the War of 1914", published in 1915, Alexander Pogodin, a famous Russian SLavist, devotes one chapter to the Rusins who inhabited Austria-Hungary. He gives information about the number of Rusins in Austria-Hungary according to the results of the 1910 census, describes the “status of the Russian tribe”, the political life of Galicia, Bukovina and Hungary, the emergence and development of Ukrainophilia. Pogodin believes that “with the conquest of Galicia, all the national and party relations of the Russian population in this country changed completely”. According to him, “the peasant masses that were inclined towards UkrainophiLia patronized by the authorities could quickly come to "Moscowphilia"”, while the Ukrainian intelligentsia, with the accession of Galicia to Russia, will lose grounds for a separate development “and will probably find it more beneficial and reasonable to adopt the national language and the Russian culture”.
