Spatial Organization in the «New Drama» (Based on the Early Russian Translations of the Drama «Lonely People» by G. Hauptmann)

In the paper an attempt is made to analyze the space arrangement in «modern drama» works on the basis of early Russian translations of the drama «Lonely people» by Gerhart Hauptmann. The conceptual content of the spatial setting which is vital for the «modern drama», becomes more evident in the receptive aspect, and this determines our interest in the translations of Hauptmann’s drama. Being placed into the foreign cultural space Hauptmann’s work not only reveals its most important features but also demonstrates the possibility of multible interpretations.
