Concessive constructions in the Yakut language
The aim of this paper is to identify and describe the means of expressing concessive relations in the Yakut language. It is established that concessive constructions are first of all represented by nuclear means, namely, analytical-synthetical polypredicative constructions with dependent pred-icates followed by postpositions as well as by conditional mood combined with analytical mark-ers. The peripheral means of expressing the relations under discussion include analytical construc-tions with postpositional or prepositional conjunctions. Thereby analytical polypredicative constructions describe not only concessive but also concessive-adversative relations and adversa-tive relations proper. In the domain of polypredicative constructions which express the relations under discussion there are functionally synonymous constructions. This is conditioned by the fact that many prepositional conjunctions are structural variants of analytical-synthetical and analyti-cal (postpositional) connecting means.
