The German ecclesiastical-protreptic literature in notebooks of V. A. Zhukovsky of the 1840-1850s

In the article V. A. Zhukovsky's mostly unpublished and uninvestigated notebooks of the 1840-1850s are considered. The autographs and marginalia are attributed, dated and commented basing upon the authentic culture-historical context and appear in Zhukovsky's religious quests. The final evolutionary step of his creative thinking correlates with the authentic German environment and the context of the last decade of his creative life. The resonant dialog of Zhukovsky with the German ecclesiastical-protreptic literature of the 19th century is characterized in the article, the direct harmonies of the parts of works of German authors the poet chose and the motives of his late works and plans are discovered. German extracts from the ecclesiasticalprotreptic literature in notebooks of the 1840-1850s show the high interest of Zhukovsky in the material, his own strategy of understanding.
