The role of oral and written forms of speech in the usage of subsidiary communicative units (based on Russian and English academic discourses)

The paper ascertains the significant influence of oral and written forms of speech on the functioning, frequency and diversity of discourse markers in English and Russian academic monologues. The dependence of the usage of discourse markers on the language is found to be insignificant.
