The semantics of the verb пунты and sentences formed by this verb in the Khanty language (on the material of the Kazym dialect)

The paper identifies and describes the main lexical meanings of the verb punty ‘to put’. The meaning of this verb depends on its syntactic environment which forms the grammatical features of the verb and the possibility of using it in different types of models of elementary simple sentences. The lexical meaning of the verb is determined by the character of the nouns (common or abstract) combining with it. The said verb can form one-actant, two-actant and three-actant models with semantic variants. The peculiarities of the combination of the components of the three-actant model allow it to form grammatical, structural, semantic variants and metaphorical transfers. The predicate in these models is used in the subjective and objective conjugations, the grammatical variant is used in the passive conjugation. In the two-actant model the predicate is expressed by the verb in the passive voice form. In the one-actant model the predicate is used only in the subjective conjugation.
