Strong text positions in the German short story
The paper describes the features of the strong text positions within the same genre using, as an example, the German short story. The theoretical studies are based on the researches of specialists in Germanic studies for the recent 20 years. Analysis was made of 26 short stories by the authors of «Group 47» from the book «Almanac of Group 47». As a result of the analysis the stories were classified according to the characteristics of their beginnings and the ends. The classification includes the description of the linguistic features of the level of discourse and of the plot characteristics. The paper also considers the specificity of the border between the end of the story and the “residual text”, expressed in the change of focalization, of the speed or mode of narration, and describes some linguistic characteristics of the last sentence, based on the peculiarities of the use of German in the post-war literature.
