The monograph under review analyzes the typological features of a wide range of works created in the transition period of Russian spiritual culture from the Middle Ages to the Early Modern Times. These works take mainly a peripheral place in the genre system and demonstrate the combination of medieval poetics and the emerging new aesthetics. Most of them combine the features of a document and a literary work. The concept of “the transition text” formulated on the material studied allows expanding the observations of previous scholars and opening up new perspectives for further research.
