General and professional applied physical training of TSU Military Training Centre students
The Military Training Centre that specialises in the profile training of officers welcomes young people, who signed an agreement with the Ministry of Defence according to which after graduation they will have to serve a three-year contract in officer positions in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, or, if agreed with the Ministry of Defence, in the executive branch employing military service. The curriculum of officer training in the Military Training Centre includes no physical training, and qualification requirements for graduates of military training centres do not have any to the level of their physical fitness. The aim of the research was to develop and introduce general physical and special military applied training in the educational program for students of military training centres to enhance the RF Armed Forces performance. The testing of the level of general physical fitness of the fourth year students of TSU Military Training Centre showed a low level of physical development, lack of professional and applied training skills, and, as a result, the disparity between the identified indicators and the regulatory requirements for the officers in the Armed Forces today. To assess the level of the overall physical fitness of students of the Military Training Centre traditional tests were mainly used: pull-ups, 100- and 3000-metre runs, grenade throws, horse vault, gymnastic exercises on bars. The test, which requires a complex manifestation of the physical qualities, was to overcome the obstacle line. Along with the physical readiness for the initial and final stages of the experiment we examined the physiological capabilities of students to assess their functional reserve, as well as the comparative evaluation of the results at the beginning and after the end of the study. The sociological survey of the students revealed that the primary motivation for physical training and healthy lifestyle of the Military Training Centre students is the formation of personal qualities, such as determination, diligence, discipline, etc. The results of psychophysical tests, physical fitness and sociological surveys convinced us of the need to develop and introduce a one-year compulsory course "Physical Education" in the training program of the Military Training Centre. The analysis of physical training practice in the military schools showed that to increase its effectiveness it is necessary to provide a set of organisational and methodological conditions that will contribute to achieving the required level of physical fitness of students. Monitoring of physical fitness, functional status, psycho-emotional sphere in the process of experimental studies showed that physical exercise has a positive effect on the level of physical development and professional training of the students.
