The modus indicators of the dialectal sentence: authorization and persuasion
This study is devoted to the analysis of the most topical and frequent modus qualifying categories of authorization and persuasion. The most frequent indicators of authorization and persuasion in the dialectal sentence are considered. The article makes an attempt to define the main types of interaction of modus qualifying categories of authorization and persuasion. The Middle Ob dialect dictionaries are the material for this paper. As a rule, the modus qualifying category of persuasion is considered as a kind of a subjective modality. Other terms for its definition are epistemic modality, modality of veracity, modality of truth. The category of authorization is presented as a modus qualifying category which shows the source or character of information. It may be stated that a close connection between the analyzed categories in the dialectal speech is found. Two main types of interaction of categories of authorization and persuasion are pointed out in the dialectal sentence: 1) the interaction of the modus categories of authorization and persuasion is found if the source of information received by the speaker is his/her own knowledge or if the speaker gained information from his/her own deduction. In case of direct perception of the situation, the speaker uses the verbs of senses 'see', 'hear'. The speaker can emphasize the uncertainty of his information by the modal words and particles with the meaning of doubt. In utterances with inferential meaning mental verbs 'think', 'suppose' are used; 2) the category of authorization is connected with the category of persuasion if information is gained by the speaker from other sources, from other people's messages. As a rule, the source of information is mentioned by the speaker. Thereby, the author's message absolves itself from responsibility for information authenticity. The most frequent indicator which expresses the interaction of modus qualifying categories of authorization and persuasion in the dialectal sentence is the verb of speech 'speak'. The sentences which do not show the source of information are also used in the dialectal speech. The repertoire of markers of authorization and persuasion in the dialectal sentence differ from corresponding indicators in literary language.
