Modeling of the artistic associative cultural landscape of the city (by example of its music and sound performance)
The associative cultural landscape has an area connected with associations formed in an artistic way, somehow reflecting or expressing the specifics of the territory. Since the universal characteristics of any artistic image are its music and sound characteristics, they became the criterion for the construction of one of the possible versions of the model of the artistic associative cultural landscape as a whole, and on the basis of architecture, sculpture and painting in particular. The spatial and temporal rhythm of the city is packed in different ways, which can create a virtual ornamental grille(s), both large and small. In our study, the city's architecture has three main components, each of which can be represented as a complex, evolving system: the square that composes the music and sound centered space; the architectural decoration of buildings which is the supplement of the existing space; the architectural cycles that are the music and sound forms covering, uniting and highlighting entire neighborhoods in the city. In the music-sound modeling the position of the recipient is becoming extremely important. Recipients seek to find universal formulas being in the constant process of reflection and decoding codes produced by the music and artistic thinking that is inherent to them. In this study the structure of the building of the architectural artistic associative landscape is applicable not only to the architecture, but also to other areas of the sphere of art (sculpture and painting). The study of the artistic associative landscape formed by sculpture has led us to the conclusion that the round sculpture becomes the center of the city's music and sound space concentration; the reliefs complement, enrich the already organized landscape; and the bells become the element forming the new music and sound territory. In painting the center-forming element of the cultural landscape is an urban landscape which specifically reflects the music and sound "finds" of the city's architecture and sculpture; a still life and, partly, a narrative enrich the region's cultural landscape with music and sound nuances; a portrait covers new territories. In our model, all the elements are interrelated. There are common types of connection in the three seemingly disparate systems. The model can be used as a structural grid, for example, to study graphic arts and crafts, art, design or landscape architecture, and so on. It functions as a code, as an interpretive grid (in architecture, sculpture and painting) that generates various new messages. The new content of the cultural landscape creates new prospects for its practical and theoretical application, being a fertile educational and enlightening environment.
