Basic verbs of perception in the idiolect of a dialect speaker
The subject of the analysis is perceptive verbs as a part of the vocabulary of a Siberian peasant woman, V. P. Vershinina. The main source of the material is The Complete Dictionary of the Dialect Language Personality (Tomsk, 2006-2012). In the oral texts of that person there are five lexical-semantic groups of verbs representing the main types of perception. Basic verbs of visual, auditory, and taste perception in the idiolect are identical to those of the Russian language (to see, to look, to listen, to hear, to taste). At the same time, individual vocabulary has some differences from the common language system: the basic verb of tactile perception is to grope, while in the system of the Russian language the central verb is to touch. The basic verb of olfactory perception in the idiolect is to sense while the most common for Russian is to smell. Verbs of perception are often used in the original meaning; all other meanings are used much less frequently. The exceptions are the verbs of auditory perception that the language personality often used in the meaning "to know by talks, rumors". In the idiolect active verbs of visual perception are used more often compared to cognitive verbs. For verbs of hearing there is no clear opposition between active and cognitive verbs. The subject of vision, as well as other types of perception in the idiolect, is the person. This is mostly the speaker, in other cases (rarely) - the interlocutor or a person not involved in the conversation. The subject is mostly the speaker for the utterances of visual, auditory, tactile perception. The verb of taste perception is often focused on the interlocutor and represents an offer to taste the food. For verbs of olfactory perception the subject is often the animal. The object of vision can be an object or a situation. Statements where the object is indicated by a predicative unit are numerous, especially for the verbs of visual, auditory and tactile perception. Objects of visual perception are most differentiated. The objects of visual perception are often artifacts, as well as persons, including the speaker. Less frequently the objects are elements of the nature. Abstract concepts used as the objects of vision are single. The object of auditory perception is very often the radio. Objects of taste and smell are food and food smells. The objects of perception are compared with the parts of the world relevant to the informant. First and foremost, it is housekeeping, home and vegetable garden, food, other items of everyday life and surrounding people.
