This work studies communication clubs for the elderly in the context of realization of the model of active ageing. The topicality of the study is caused by the fact that the change of social status and lifestyle of the elderly person can lead to a variety of socio-psychological problems. In this regard, social work with this category of the population should focus on strengthening the livelihood of the elderly which is one of the conditions for their successful adaptation to the retirement period of life. The most effective means to support active ageing could be the organization of communication clubs for elderly citizens with regard to their individual needs and interests. In this article the role of communication clubs in the process of adaptation and activation of the elderly is revealed. Communication clubs are considered as a form of social services for elderly people, with the help of which we can realize different types of social services. Also the article presents a theoretical model of activity on creation of communication clubs for the elderly, the realization of which will allow to achieve high efficiency of activation of the elderly. The model contains the following components: the purpose and the tasks of creating communication clubs, stages of activity, main directions of the activities of communication clubs, conditions and criteria of efficiency and expected results of the work of communication clubs. It is stated that the organization of communication clubs for the elderly should be based on several principles. One of the main principles is the individual needs and interests of the elderly. This theoretical model of the activity in organization of communication clubs for elderly people is realized in the conditions of State Autonomous Institutions of Social Service of Vladimir Region "Murom Comprehensive Center of Social Service of the Population", where they have already had positive practical experience. These activities of the Centre in activation of the elderly represent the organization of the work of various clubs and circles. The analysis of the practical experience of the organization of communication clubs for elderly people shows that the club work should represent a complex system of interconnected clubs and hobby groups, created on the basis of consideration of the individual needs and personal interests of elderly people, and where all directions given in the presented theoretical model could be realized. Thus, the most effective form of realization of the model of active ageing is the organization of communication clubs for elderly people.
