The block epithet in the works of Marina Tsvetaeva

In the article the block epithet in M. Tsvetaeva's idiolect is considered; options of verbalization of block diagrams of block epithets in M. Tsvetaeva's texts and their unique semantics are characterized. It is established that the use of the block epithet by the poet allows a multidimensional description of a situation, object or person; it is developed to staticize figurative and occasional semes in adjectives; make an image evident and extensive. M. Tsvetaeva's judgment of reality occurs very emotionally, unexpectedly, therefore an attempt to describe the main types of block epithets is made. The block epithet complex is a uniform lexical-syntactic block stylized by folklore epiphrase which includes the defined word and the epithet, unextended and extended, giving a multidimensional description of the object. Components of the block are characterized by the semantic integrity of phrase components, their close cohesion. The author of the article offers this term for an adequate and complete description of such a complex phenomenon as it is necessary to describe both components of the attributive statement fully; it plays the central role in the phenomenon or object characteristic, bears evaluation and multidimensional judgment of this concept. Marina Tsvetaeva very often uses such configurations of adjectives and nouns, without dividing the attribute into components, which distinguishes her language from her contemporary poets. The extremely emotional judgment of reality leads to designing complex attributive words; their study is a topical problem of modern linguistics. The base for the block epithet is an appositive phrase including the defined word and the epithet-apposition, especially characteristic for the "folklore" cycle of M. Tsvetaeva's works. Creation of the block epithet complex of the folklore type by introducing the verb in its structure allows the poet to characterize the whole situation: the verb is the central element of the complex, comparisons of the left and right components in relation to the verb (a veil like fog or a face like the sun) are frequent. Pronouns as a part of the complex have both the Nominative and, which is much more often, oblique case forms, which proves that the statement is indivisible, it functions as a uniform, connected complex, but with a possibility of a change of the pronominal component (a set concrete form of the statement). The block epithet complex is a connected epithet appositive row with the distant position of the epithet and the defined word carrying out the function of folklore stylizations. For Marina Tsvetaeva's works this type of epithet is an important idiostyle feature, attention to the complex judgment of life realities.
