Museum in the context of the processes of update and adaptation
The process of formation and development of museum as a cultural form and a social institution depends on the needs of the society in preservation and transmission of the tangible and intangible heritage. The primary factor in this process is actualization (update), interpreted as a need of society in particular socio-cultural experiences, necessary in a certain period and for a certain culture. Update of the demanded cultural experience by means of the museum contributes to its adaptation to the specific period of development of the society. The processes of update depend on the prevailing social system of social expectations. Formation of the museum as a cultural form is caused by the prescriptive expectations connected with documentation and translation of social reality in its historical and contemporary perspectives. Predicting expectations are probabilistic in their nature and related to actualization of a particular form of the museum. Actualization of the museum as a cultural form depends on the valuable, informative and expressive potential of the collection. The viability of the actualized museum form is determined by the degree of its inclusion in the adaptation processes which allow museums to adapt to social transformations. The first way to adapt is the organizational and managerial activity, determined by other methods, such as scientific research, cultural and educational activities. Adaptability of scientific and research activities is caused by contiguity of the genesis of the museum as a cultural form and emergence of scientific knowledge. Expansion of cultural and educational activities of the museum in its visual, verbal and virtual options leads to the enlargement of the audience interested in the forms and therefore provides its adaptation to the needs of a new generation. Modified social reality requires adjusting the interpretation of reality and therefore representation of collections. It is a synthesis of research and cultural and educational activities and allows to reassess the meaning of the museum collections. In formation of the museum as a cultural form the crucial role is played by the processes of update and adaptation. The society needs for documentation and translation of social experience, formed in accordance with the system of the social expectations, influenced update of the museum as a cultural form and social institution the viability and development of which depends on the degree of inclusion in the adaptation processes.
