The historical and cultural museum-reserve “The Moscow-Siberian Route” of Bolsheukovsky municipal district of Omsk Oblast

The article is devoted to the study of a district museum’s history and activities. The author described a wide range of sources most of which had not been published earlier. A number of agencies and organizations which cooperated with the museum-reserve were characterized on the basis of the data obtained. The analysis of the staff schedule showed the quantitative and qualitative changes that happened in recent years and had a positive impact on the work of the museum in Bolshie Uki. The material about the current state of the material-technical base was presented and the problematic issues that influenced the museum in the course of its historical development were characterized. Most of the article is a description of the main museum activities: scientific stock work, research, exhibition, cultural and educational. On the basis of the reviewed source base, the author states that along with the traditional activities that were carried out by the museum throughout its history the tourist orientation has become a noticeable phenomenon in its work in recent years. This circumstance is due to the fact that a section of the Moscow-Siberian route, which is a monument of history and road construction of the 18th century, is in the territory of Bolsheukovsky District. It was the longest road in the world that was used not only for transportation of convicts and exiles, but also as the shortest postal and trade route that linked the remote areas of the state and the center. This topic is gradually reflected in all kinds of museum work. The author comes to a conclusion that the historical and cultural museum-reserve “The Moscow-Siberian Route” performs all basic types of museum activities: it is the center of culture concentration in the village and the district as a whole and it develops tourism, a new direction in its activities in recent years. It is noted that the growth of the cultural component in modern life contributes to the widespread dissemination of cultural tourism in which museums are crucial for they offer exhibits, create cultural programs and various activities for tourists, which has been reflected in the activities of the museum-reserve in Bolshie Uki in recent years.
