The Orthodox history of Biysk is a unique component of Biysk history and a very important feature of the chronicles of the Altai Territory. Orthodoxy, which originated with the advent of the serving of the Cossacks and the builders of the first inhabitants of Bi-katunsk dungeon and then Biysk fortress, has come a long way of growth and development. Despite the difficult years of Soviet atheism and rebellion, archives, museums and libraries of Biysk preserved the unique monuments of Orthodox history and culture, precious witnesses of history of Orthodox culture residents. The reconstruction of the history of the Orthodox Biysk is possible from a variety of sources: material and immaterial, art and linguistic, oral, as well as films, photos and phonodocuments. Among the written sources in the research process a special place belongs to archival documentary sources of the beginning of the 18th up to the 21st centuries. These collections are in the state, regional and local archives, museums in Biysk and Barnaul.
