Role of the competitive program "Academic Mobility" of the Mikhail Prokhorov Foundation in the development of grant activity and identification of new materials within the scientific research of the graduate student

This article presents the concept "academic mobility" which is one of the main competitive directions of travel grants of the Mikhail Prokhorov Foundation and a priority for young scientists and graduate students. In the introduction the author considers the development of competitive lines of the Foundation. Further, the role of "academic mobility" in finding new materials for writing a dissertation research is revealed. The research "Monuments of Architecture of a Historic City as Cultural Heritage of Russia (on Materials of the Republic of Buryatia)" needed additional sources and factual material in documents, photos and other forms which were preserved in various storages of Chita and Irkutsk. A complete research included a comparative analysis with adjacent territories, namely, the historical cities of Irkutsk Oblast and Zabaykalsky Krai. The Mikhail Prokhorov Foundation supported two trips of the author of this article to Irkutsk and Chita. Thus, archives on architecture monuments were revealed and studied; work with the passports of architecture monuments in the Centers for preservation of historical and cultural heritage of Irkutsk Oblast and Zabaykalsky Krai was carried out; literature on civil architecture of these cities was studied in libraries. The material allowed to carry out the comparative analysis of the development and current state of the historical cities of Zabaykalsky Krai, Irkutsk Oblast and the Republic of Buryatia. In addition, the author managed to conduct field research over monuments, namely, on-site investigation of the condition of various monuments. The results of the trips were used in writing articles. By means of introduction of the collected materials lecture courses "Monuments as Objects of Historical and Cultural Heritage", "Landscape Architecture" for the bachelor students of the Museology and Protection of Objects of Cultural and Natural Heritage direction were extended and updated. In conclusion, the author states that the use of similar grants is considered expedient as academic mobility gives an opportunity to considerably expand the source base of individual research, gain experience with primary sources and skills of scientific research.
