A comparative analysis of perception of lies presented in written and audio forms
The article presents the results of an experimental study of strategies for the estimation of lies. A lie was offered in two forms. The first form was a written option as a type of text content from a newspaper. The second form was submitted via the audio option as a type of an excerpt from radio reports. A comparative analysis of the strategies of false information assessment can be carried by six parameters. These parameters were identified as follows: interest, understanding, realism, credibility, consistency, emotion. Each of the parameters, as the author suggested, are interconnected; therefore, it is possible to allocate a structure for assessing the lies that were presented in two forms. The sample of subjects is represented by 4 students of specialties. The subjects were divided into two experimental groups. The first experimental group assessed six parameters after each reading of the text. The second experimental group assessed six parameters in a similar sequence as group 1, but they listened to the lies. The results are presented in the form of a generalized graph that illustrates lies assessment strategies. A statistically significant correlation between the parameters of lies assessment has been found. The statistically significant differences between the parameters associated directly with falsehood are realism and credibility. The average and the individual lies assessment strategies have been determined. The average strategy is synthesized results for the two experimental groups. The individual strategy is expressed in typical and atypical forms of lies assessment. The "behavior" of strategies for each form of lies presentation has been analyzed. An important difference between assessment and recognition is emphasized. Assessment is connected with the semantic sphere of the person. The differences in the averages for the parameters of realism and trust are explained by a greater severity towards writing lies compared to auditory lies. Hypotheses are made for the organization of further research in this area.
