In your student I see you, Teacher
The article describes the creative activity of the teacher of Special Piano, Professor and Head of the Piano Department of the Higher School of Music (Institute) of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Yunona Mikhailovna Upholova, who equates performing art to the factor of the spiritual, harmonious development of personality. The technique of familiarizing young musicians to the great music is discussed based on the virtuosity, colorful sound palette, the degree of dynamic contrasts, appropriate articulation, intoning and possession of sophisticated pedal. Upkholova believes that the teacher's duty is not only to teach students professional excellence, but also to turn them to the moral ideals of humanity, kindness, compassion for one's neighbor, which, in turn, will have an impact on their success in the arts. After all, in the communication value of musical art, "contemplation-performance-perception", it is the music player that has a central role. Hence, the player's skill and culture determine the disclosure of spiritually integral ideas a composer lays in the foundation and content of a piece of music, on the one hand, and the ability to make music performance the factor of the spiritual, creative service to arts, on the other. The teacher should play a crucial and pivotal role in the process. S/he should help the student to find means of expressiveness, the best tempo-rhythm, an adequate timbre and degree of the necessary of dynamic contrasts essential in every variation, give advice on the articulation and intonation. Therefore, the constant striving to open the complex and wonderful world of music to students, to raise their sense of beauty, to look at the world with wonder and delight, and then to translate that feeling in their performance is so important for Upkholova. This is the basis of her pedagogical skills, which she generously gives to the future professional musicians. Listening to the concerts of her students, one is struck by how much work and patience, imagination and skill, intelligence and rigor, love and responsibility a teacher must have to grow a musician-professional worthy of international recognition from a novice pianist.
