Research ergo education

The article develops the key theses of the school of thought on humanities-based research on educational innovations created by Galina Prozumentova, professor of Tomsk State University. The central point of Professor Prozumentova's research program is, as the authors of the article believe, the thesis of a deep inner connection between education and the research method applied by a scholar. The article is devoted to the development of the presented thesis. In the first part of the article, according to the communicative approach principles for educational research (defined by G. Prozumentova), the authors' attention is drawn to the analysis and adaptation of D. Bloom's microethnographic method. The method determines educational communication in molar and productive categories. According to D. Bloom, the main product of effective communication is an educational event which discovers unprecedented opportunities of self-modification for the event participants. The convergence of G. Prozumentova's and D. Bloom's scholarly positions is the main theoretical result of the authors' textual experiment. The second result presented in the text is the critical review of case study application practices in educational research. This topic was of much interest for G. Prozumentova in her last years of research work. The second part of the article is devoted to the determination of the conditions and principles of case study ideology application for the objectives of innovation and education development. Among the conditions one can mention the necessity of pedagogization of case study analytical procedures, adaptation of the procedures to educational goals, drawing not only on methodological individualism as the case study core but on case study as a collaborative activity. As the authors believe, in such a collaborative activity conflict of interpretations, clash of participants' positions and discovered diverse practical and educational prospective should take the central stage. In this situation research communication contributes to formation of divergent communicative environment. In this environment difference in participants' potentials and positions becomes a source of innovations emerging. The emphasis of the article is in the authors' conviction that educational innovations development is the key factor allowing a university to play the decisive part in its region's and country's innovative development and to identify university's regional uniqueness and international competitiveness.
