Inter-sort aesthetic characteristics as a component of musical texts interpretation
The article discusses inter-sort aesthetic characteristics as a component of musical texts interpretation. In contrast to the interaction of arts on the subject or motives level that refer to the external, extra-music semantics, it allows to use inter-sort aesthetic characteristics for closer understanding of the intra-music semantics of musical texts. Inter-sort aesthetic characteristics are the focus of the integration processes in the arts. Synthesizing genetically related elements in various fields of artistic experience, they imprint a general information code, and fix the summary information of individual arts. They form the channels through which the traffic of inter-sort information moves, and which are "communicating containers", penetrating the deep structure which is not associated with a sensual language material of specific arts. The paper shows that of the inter-sort characteristics used in musicology, the most studied are the theatrical and cinematic characteristics. It is emphasized that "theatricality", which brings an element of musical entertainment imagery into music, is not confined to "instrumental theater". In all its manifestations, it compensates an abstraction and immateriality of musical images by the "scenic sensual clarity of the game" (Hegel). Cinematicity, based on montage, as opposed to a game element of theatricality, is "building of thought frames and compositional moves" (Eisenstein) in music, that is, showing the whole through discrete fragments. Cinematicity allows to discover changes in musical thinking of composers of the twentieth century, and brings the contemporary composers' ability to transfer a concise and concentrated expression of complex emotional, mental processes. The article interprets the literary features, which differentiate between a prosaic story and a poetic continuity, the latter being close to musicality. The article shows the difference between visual picturesqueness and plasticity. It is emphasized that the creation of chiaroscuro effects as a picturesque quality is associated with musical disembodiment of images, which became significant in Romanticism and Impressionism. In comparison with picturesqueness, plasticity is referred to as, primarily, the volume, convexity, distinct expression of a form, features related to the art of sculpture. Inter-sort plasticity characteristic is primarily based on spatial, gesture-kinetic, muscular sculpture prototypes rather than on optical, color, light and coloristic characteristics. It becomes relevant when interpreting musical images associated with sculpture dimensional images. It is established that foreign language characteristics (for example, from poetry), which carry profound artistic information of related arts, contribute to a more developed understanding of musical meaning, and perform a compensatory function which expands the interpretation of musical texts.
