Physical time in the idiolect of a Siberian old-timer
The article analyzes the fragment of the temporal picture of the world reflecting physical time in the idiolect of a folk speech culture representative. Time is an important element of any picture of the world. The concept of time permeates language and all our consciousness as a whole and, therefore, belongs to the essential categories of human consciousness. Time is perceived as a universal entity and as an individual value that organizes all spheres of a person's life. Different spheres of human existence are reflected in Vera Prokofyevna's idiolect. We can talk about biological time, which characterizes the periods of human existence from birth to death; about cultural time, associated with cultural traditions adopted in society; about social time, reflecting the dynamics of the development of society as a whole and of the individual in it, etc. Physical time occupies a major place among them as an a priori characteristic of the world. The Complete Dictionary of the Dialect Language Personality served as a source of research. Physical time is the main type of time: it determines all processes and phenomena in human life and has properties that characterize it as an objective entity: sequence, extent, divisibility into segments, the movement of time from past to future. The dialect language personality assesses any event from the perspective of time: characterizes its duration and place among other events occurring in human life. The property "extent" of units denoting the duration of an event in time can be described through the opposition "long / short". Events that fill the human life follow a certain order. Any event, action has a beginning and an end. Traditional culture tends to observe the established order: everything must happen at a certain specially designated time. Violation of this order is assessed negatively. The perception of time is syncretically connected with the perception of space, which is also an archaic feature. Units of time of different duration represent such a property of time as divisibility into segments. Time flow is associated with a change in the state of the surrounding world: the change of day and night, days of the week, months and seasons. The movement of time from past to future allows us to talk about three periods: the past, the present and the future. Events of the past receive a deeper reflection, because they are more relevant. Forecasting events of the future for the dialect language personality is much less common.
