The Pro Cologne Citizen's Movement

This article considers the problem of the growth of anti-Islamic sentiments in modern Germany and the EU in whole. The aim of the article was a comprehensive study of this issue using the example of the right-wing extremist organization, the Pro Cologne Citizen's Movement. The study of the history of the growth of Islamophobia in modern Germany is closely connected with the history and political activity of this organization, which became one of the first sources of dissemination of prejudices and stereotypes about the Muslim community of Germany for political purposes. In this research the author studied history, political activity and the main political demands of the Pro Cologne. Due to the descriptive and historical-genetic method, the history of creation, the first steps and the further activities of this organization were considered. It was found that over time this organization began to aim at expanding its political activity. Two organizations were established: the Pro North Rhine-Westphalia Citizen's Movement and the Pro Germany Citizens' Movement. These organizations were to promote the political goals of the whole "pro movement" at the regional and federal level of Germany. During the study it was possible to establish that a certain part of the population has developed reprehensible thinking and attitude towards its neighbors with a different religion, especially among poor and unemployed citizens. With the help of this support, the Pro Cologne has its representatives in the city council of the city of Cologne. The question of the spread of criticism towards Muslims in modern Germany and the EU is extremely important at the moment. Terrorist acts and violence by radical Islamists in Europe have become one of the main reasons for the growth of not only Islamophobia from right-wing radicals and extremists, but also nationalism and religious intolerance in general. This situation is extremely explosive, since conflicts between representatives of different cultures in the European multicultural community are inevitable. Islamophobia and violence can only worsen the situation. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to this problem in order to prevent conflicts in the society. This article was a proof that the active and dangerous growth of Islamophobia is promoted by right-wing political forces, such as the Pro Cologne Citizen's Movement and others. It is these organizations and alike that tend to use the conflict situation between representatives of different cultures for their political purposes, which are aimed at discrimination and exclusion of one part of society from the other.
