Development of social and entrepreneurial competency of students within the educational process of a classical university
The article is devoted to the analysis of conditions and stages in the development of social and entrepreneurial competency of students within the educational process of a classical university (by example of Tomsk State University). The authors analyze a special third mission of a classical university focused on improving the quality of life of people and society. Being focused on this mission, the university is interested in developing the region and regional communities through the implementation of innovative social and entrepreneurial projects of students. In this regard, development of social and entrepreneurial competency of students is described as one of the educational tasks of a classical university. The article analyzes interdisciplinary research on the concept of social entrepreneurship. A constructive characteristic of social entrepreneurship is orientation to the creation of value with a social effect as a key feature. Social entrepreneurship is considered as an innovative type of activity leading to the creation of social capital as an educational result and resource, which is especially important for a classical university. The article analyzes competence and activity approaches that contribute to the substantiation of the content of social and entrepreneurial competency of students, as well as to the clarification of the leading competences included in the concept "competency". The authors define such components of social and entrepreneurial competency as social-communicative and innovative-entrepreneurial competences. The authors consider that during the development of social and entrepreneurial competency of students within the educational process, classical universities assign a special pole to: humanitarian technologies because of their prior role in teaching new ways of thinking and new forms of activities; specially organized "places" where students master the knowledge, value and activity components of social and entrepreneurial activity by moving through certain stages which include obtaining experience in solving social problems, experience in development and implementation of real social and entrepreneurial projects and reflection. The authors have concluded that in order to develop social and entrepreneurial competency of students, the educational space of the institution should provide, along with other conditions, an opportunity for students to move through all stages. For this purpose, creation of special centers allowing the accumulation of external resources (outside the university) as well as internal (within the university) seems to be effective.
