The ethic of relationships in the university corporation of Tomsk on the example of the conflict at the Faculty of Law of Tomsk University during the spring and summer of 1917
The causes, course and consequences of the conflict of professors of the Faculty of Law of Tomsk University in the spring and summer of 1917 are reconstructed on the materials of archival documents, periodical press and sources of personal origin in the article. The "revolutionary" social context in which the conditions for its emergence matured is considered. It is the acquisition of autonomy by the university, the consequent weakening of control over the university life by Rector I.N. Grammatikati, who, in addition, was sick in 1917, trustee of the West Siberian educational district N.I. Tikhomirov, the revitalization of the university corporation in general and the students in particular, who then fought for the right to take part in the life and management of the university. The main participants of the confrontation at the Faculty of Law are represented, their mutual relations are characterized. Among them were the Dean of the Faculty, Professor of Economics P.I. Lyashchenko, Secretary Professor N.Ya. Novombergsky, against whom the accusations were made by professors of the Faculty S.P. Mokrinsky, P.A. Prokoshev, N.N. Kravchenko, G.G. Telberg and S.I. Solntsev. The causes and hidden motives of the confrontation are analyzed. It is concluded that they were mainly connected not so much with the academic component as with personal antipathies, the professional ambitions of individual professors, and also with the financial aspect. The attitude of university students towards this conflict and attempts to resolve it are considered. The work of the investigative and resolution committee under the chairmanship of the Director of the Tomsk Technological Institute, Professor I.I. Bobarykov, formed specifically to eliminate this conflict is described. It is summarized that the resolution passed by the committee by the results of 14 meetings generally reflected the vicissitudes of the conflict and the ways of its solution. It is concluded that the scientific community of Tomsk of that period, despite the negative tendencies manifested during the conflict within the professorial corporation, could use a self-regulation mechanism to maintain a normal moral and ethical climate. In conclusion, the fates of the main participants in the conflict are traced.
