Methodological bases of the development of coordination abilities and exactness of hit of beginning foil fencers aged 9-10
The authors have focused their research interest on discovering the methodological basis for developing coordination abilities which may contribute to increasing the hit accuracy of a novice foil fencer. Interrelations between coordination and some strength indicators, exactness of hits of beginning foil fencers into a motionless target against the background of application of various fencing means in sports duels were discovered during experimental and analytical work. The authors found out that sports results of beginning foil fencers depend not only on specialized technical and tactical preparedness, but also on the development of the coordination abilities and force of the muscles of fingers and of the armed hand. Moreover, it was determined that if general physical training prevails over technical one at the early stages of athlete training, the technical standard of the weapon position and the position of the armed hand is not formed in a proper way. It allowed concluding that the contemporary practice of pedagogical approach in sports with students aged nine or ten is not directed fully to "interweave" physical aspects and psychomotor features in the exercising process. These results were studied in the context of the correlation of the valid and invalid hits in duels of young fencers. As a result, the pedagogical and methodological expediency of training of the beginning nine- and ten-year-old foil fencers by exercises for a systemic improvement of coordination abilities and training of muscles responsible for moves with the weapon was proved in spite of the fact that the sensitive period for developing these abilities did not come yet. Introduction of exercises designed for developing coordination abilities of novice foil fencers to the training process can be a solution for this problem. They can accelerate the assimilation process of the technical aspects of performing fencing moves and reaching the time-space standards of performing them. However, the development of young fencer speed abilities, which allows him/her to anticipate and counteract the opponent's defense, is appropriate only when its complexity does not contradict the level of fencer's technical proficiency. Mastering the performance of fencing moves, fully mastered by young athletes, with maximum variability rather than with maximum speed should be considered as the key principle of technique development in the training process of young foil fencers. That could reduce the amount of misses and non-valid hits without losing the quality of the technical aspect of fencing. Competitive results of beginning fencers at the start of their sports career can be improved if the trainer makes the specified changes to training. It will undoubtedly strengthen children's motivation to engage in this sport.
