Philosophical and Architectural Discourses in Culture

The aim of the article is to substantiate the determinative nature of the interactions of philosophical and architectural discourses in culture, i.e. evidences that philosophy determines architectural creativity, theoretical and architectural intentions in the relevant cultural era. The material of the philosophical research in this work is diverse philosophical conceptualizations, as well as specific theoretical and architectural research, facts of architectural creativity updated within a certain cultural and historical reality. The con-elusion about the determinacy of architectural creativity by philosophy is the result of applying the inductive method to generalize the cultural and historical experience of interaction between architecture and philosophy. Other methods of research are comparative methodology, the methodology of reconstruction of cultural and historical reality based on the representation of culture as the coexistence of integral cultural and historical types in which each element is determined by a system of mental dominants. In the course of the study, two types of determination were identified: meaningful determination and genetic determination. Meaningful determination means that philosophizing as a conceptual justification of architectural design becomes a constant aspect of architectural design activity, it is the basis for representations about the existential foundations of architectural systems, design activities, which leads to the formation of methodological guidelines that are implemented in architectural design, architectural and construction activities, become a meaningful context for the diverse architectural practices of the era. The meaningful determination of architecture by philosophy is due to their inclusion within a single cultural context. As a rule, the cultural context exists as implicit knowledge, as something that allows one to create and evaluate something in accordance with this context. Genetic determination is carried out when philosophy as a knowledge system, as a discourse, as a field of philosophical concepts becomes a genofond of architecture, turning architecture into a field of philosophical heuristics. Indeed, philosophy, comprehending architectural creativity, constructs a conceptual framework, a "house", in which the architect conducts his/her professional activities. The statement of the language house means the formation of a certain discourse, from which the concepts are transformed into architectural images. Thus, within a certain cultural epoch, philosophical discourse is determinant in relation to the architectural one. At the same time, determination can be meaningful when architectural creativity becomes an answer to the challenge formed by philosophy, and genetic when philosophy is a genofond, a "repository" of ideas for architecture.
