The Problem of Aestheticization of Ugliness in the History of Philosophy and in the Perception of a Modern School Student
The aim of this article is the comparative analysis of the results of the perception of aestheticized ugliness in modern school students and in classics of philosophy. The problems of comparative analysis also included the awful and the low not only as aesthetic categories, but also as anti-values. The relevance of the research of children's perception of aestheticized ugly objects and phenomena of the modern world is dictated by the inevitability of "meeting" them in the field of art, politics, ideology, in the nature and society. However, unlike the perception of the beautiful, the sublime, the heroic and the romantic as aesthetic values, in case of ugliness children face an aesthetic anti-value which looks unusual for them as it is presented in an aestheticized "cover". Then a thinking mind naturally needs an explanation of this problem situation, in which the teacher armed with theoretical knowledge and practical experience in aesthetics can play the leading role. Theoretical material for this research was works of classics of aesthetics and publications of modern researchers working in the field of philosophy, cultural science, ethics, psychology, hermeneutics and pedagogics. An integrated approach, based on the culturological, hermeneutical and psychological analysis of the material was used as a methodology. During the review of the literature of modern writers, the most typical characteristics of aestheticization of the ugly, the awful and the low in modern art have been identified. They are, for instance, cultural development at the time of a crisis transitional period, irregularity, defiance, shock value, ethical antinormativity. The revealed contradiction between the due art (traditional art has to be fine and kind) and the real art(modern art is not fine and kind) became a subject for the empirical part of the research: for organizing a dialogue between high school students about the problem of aestheticization of ugliness in the pro et contra format. The comparative analysis of judgments of the classics of esthetics and modern school students concerning the essence of the ugly, the awful and the low, concerning the right of the artist to aestheticize these phenomena and also degrees of need of the aestheticization of the ugly in modern art became results of the conducted research. Thus, there is a certain coincidence of aesthetic judgments of the classics and the contemporaries, which can be characterized as human universality and solidarity in the solution of one of the most complex aesthetic problems.
