A Study of the Influence of the Linguistic and Cultural Specificity of the Environment on Inter-Ethnic Attitudes of Young People: Factors, Indicators, Indices

The authors focus on the problem of theoretical and methodological approaches to the essence and content of the concept "linguistic and cultural environment" and on the identification of the mechanisms of its influence on the inter-ethnic interaction of individuals and groups and, in particular, on the formation of young people's attitudes in inter-ethnic relations. The theoretical and methodological foundations of the study are determined by a systemic analysis of the content of the basic concepts in the theoretical approaches of ethnosociology, ethnolinguistics and ethnoculturology to culture, language, intercultural interaction, society and personality. The solution of the stated problem demanded a critical analysis of the structural features of the structural-morphological, linguistic and cultural, cognitive and sociocultural approaches to culture and the linguistic and cultural environment in the aspect of identifying people's inter-ethnic attitudes. The content of the concepts "social environment", "cultural environment", "language environment", "linguocultural environment" and its types has been analyzed. The integration of linguistic, cultural, cognitive and soci-ocultural approaches has helped to theoretically substantiate the selection of objective and subjective factors and indicators of impact of the specificity of the linguistic and cultural environment on inter-ethnic attitudes. The authors believe that the analysis of the theoretical and methodological approaches, the selected factors and indicators of the impact of the specificity of the linguistic and cultural environment on young people's inter-ethnic attitudes allow expanding and deepening the understanding of this important social and scientific little-studied problem on the basis of the available and newly collected empirical sociological information from the regions of Siberia (Republics of Altai, Tyva, Novosibirsk Oblast). An example of the empirical verification of the findings is the authors' sociological study of sociocultural adaptation of the youth of the Republics of Sakha (Yakutia) and Khakassia. On the example of the changes in the ethnic pictures of cities and villages of Yakutia, the factors actualizing the use of the Yakut language in the city and, vice versa, Russian in the villages are shown. In general, this study, which has an interdisciplinary and complex character, expands the subject field of ethnosociology and linguoculturology, promotes their integration and is aimed at solving the fundamental scientific and social problems - the identification of conditions and factors of harmonization of inter-group and interpersonal relations in multinational and multilingual communities.
