Risks of Children's Social Upbringing Caused by the Political Repression of the 1930s

Totalitarian society leaves an indelible imprint on the development of an individual, and the situation is especially difficult for children who are victims of political and social processes in the totalitarian context. Risks that exist in social upbringing lead to a pronounced victimization of children. One of these risks is a totalitarian society and the "purges" in it. The aim of the study is to identify the risks of social upbringing on the example of Muslim children of repressed parents in Omsk Oblast in the 1930s. The main method was the historiographic analysis of data obtained during the collection and processing of facts and statistics on political repression. A thought experiment, widely used in philosophical research, was applied. This method allowed "plunging" into the atmosphere of those years, recreating the experiences and traumas the victims of political and social events suffered, and identifying their social consequences. Interviewing allowed updating the historical facts caused by the childhood memories of repression and the repressed. A new methodological perspective of studying the history of the issue of children as victims of socialization included in the process of political repression is substantiated. The choice of Western Siberia as a territory for the study is due to the remoteness from the central government and the fact that the obtained empirical data are characteristic for the 1930s. The examination of the problems of socio-pedagogical victimology reveals the peculiarities of children's behavior in the face of deteriorating conditions of socialization and the goals of the political events and their perniciousness for children's socialization. The careless attitude of the authorities towards the fate of children left without parental care and their arrangement is assessed. The main value and significance of the study are that, for the first time, it analyzes the influence of children's political persecution on religious and ethnic grounds on the fate of people in the present. It has been proved that political repressions aimed at children influence the destructiveness of their whole subsequent life and affect the psyche of subsequent generations. The authors conclude that the political events of the past are reflected in modern negative behavioral manifestations, for example, in bullying, alcoholism, and changes in the assessment of the value of families and children.
