Ways to Increase Competitiveness 203 in Archery
The modern sports training of qualified archers requires a special approach since the conditions of the Olympic program create new requirements for athletes' sports performance, in which their psychoemotional status comes to the fore. The aim of the study is to assess the psychological readiness of athletes specializing in archery against the background of the results of their performances in important competitions. The high level of sports competition is focused on getting into the top ten, which is an important factor of absolute victory in the conditions of a high performance of technical skill given the accompanying disturbing factors. The spectacular nature of competition with a match shoot off indicates the search for new approaches to training highly qualified athletes. These approaches are associated with the preservation of psychoemotional stability, attention control, self-confidence; they attract the coaching staff's and other specialists' attention to the training of athletes. The study involved archers from the main and reserve teams who qualified no less than the master of sports of the Russian Federation. The archers were surveyed for their motivation and the degree of their psychoemotional burnout. The survey results were analyzed and led to the conclusion that they had no signs of mental burnout, but showed reduced motivation and self-doubt. Most of the considered groups have no signs of psychoemotional and physical exhaustion; they are predominately influenced by external motives associated with their identification and introjection. This indicates their psychological and professional immaturity, which is consistently manifested in self-doubt without any signs of surfeit of sports. The professionalism of a modern athlete requires not only the timely discussion and understanding of the prerequisites that provoke instable psy-choemotional states (including the insufficient expression of the motivational factor), which seriously affect the level of technical skill, but also the ability to cope with these states throughout the days of competition. In this case, there is no doubt that further progress in the level of archers' professionalism requires a systemic introduction of psychological support in the practice of their training.
