Assessment of Schoolchildren's Early Professional Self-Determination Processes (Based on the Material of the Engineering Profile)

The study actualizes the problem of developing new diagnostic tools for assessing the processes of early professional selfdetermination. An attempt was made to test the matrix of individual professional self-determination of schoolchildren of the engineering and technical profile in experimental work. This matrix is a promising option for assessing the effectiveness of the processes of schoolchildren's early professional self-determination. The analysis of the literature shows that the proposed version of the diagnostic toolkit differs from the modern practice of assessing self-determination processes based on the use of approaches such as cases. The main side of this diagnostic toolkit is combining the matrix principle of including factors that will help to determine the choice and correlate them with the level of formation of ideas about the chosen profession. The research design involves the definition of theoretical foundations that will serve as the basis for the development of a matrix of individual professional selfdetermination. The theory of the main factors of choosing a profession by E.A. Klimov and the theory of the phased-planned formation of mental actions with predetermined properties of P.Ya. Galperin were taken as a basis. It made possible to identify the relationship between the types and levels of formation of individual profile self-determination of schoolchildren aged 10 to 14. The experimental basis of the study was the Children's Center for Educational Robotics of Tomsk State Pedagogical University and the Kurlek secondary school of Tomsk Oblast. The study was conducted between 2019 and 2021. A matrix of the formation of individual profile self-determination was developed and tested during the research. The main factors of profile selection were determined. The correlation of these factors with the subject profiles of the Electronics and Mobile Robotics course such as robotics, electronics, design, modeling, working with technology and programming was shown. The mechanism for assessing the level of formation of individual profile self-determination is consistently described. The procedure for using the matrix of individual professional selfdetermination is presented. It describes the terms of testing schoolchildren, the analysis of results, the assessment of the dynamics of the indicators obtained. Examples of the analysis of the results of assessing changes in the matrix of schoolchildren's individual professional self-determination at different stages of diagnosis are given. The results of the study prove the need to develop and promote the practice-oriented content of programs for schoolchildren's early self-determination and early vocational guidance. The developed diagnostic tools within the framework of the Junior Skills program allow fixing the factors that determine the choice of schoolchildren and also allow assessing the dynamics of professional self-determination.
