Professional socialization of students in the context of digitalization: An experience of a sociological research
The scientific problem of this study is the contradiction between the existing idea of the expert community and theorists that the successful implementation of professional activities in the context of digital transformation requires from the subject of this activity, in addition to professional skills and socio-psychological readiness, also sufficiently developed digital competencies and competencies of the digital economy, and the lack of development of the question of how, in what way, in what time frame, due to what these competencies will be formed in the process of mastering higher education programs. The problem of the study is the lack of systematized information on the features and factors of professional socialization of students in the context of digitalization of higher education (based on the materials of universities of Sverdlovsk Oblast implementing bachelor's and master's programs in the "Public and Municipal Administration" direction). Therefore, the aim of this article is to assess the formation of digital competencies of students and the conditions for their formation as a framework for their professional socialization. The main research questions addressed in the article are: analysis of theoretical sources that allow us to determine the factors and conditions of students' professional socialization at a university in the context of digitalization; analysis of factors of the professional digital environment at a university that influence students' professional socialization; assessment of the development of competencies based on the analysis of empirical research results. The results of the sociological study demonstrate a significant number of students for whom the professional training they receive will never become a stage of professional socialization. The first two stages of professional socialization practically do not form a value-motivational support for future professionals to pursue a profession. The results of the assessment of the use of information and communication technologies allow us to conclude that students mainly possess simple digital skills. The respondents - students - have the least developed specific skills related to the development of digital content, solving technical problems, protecting copyrights, and programming. Although these skills are becoming most in demand in the context of digitalization of public administration. The authors declare no conflicts of interests.
