State-ideological influences on the toponymic system of Pritom'e in the 1920s–1980s
The article examines the state-ideological influences on the toponymic system of Pritom'e (the Tom River Region) from the 1920s to the 1980s and serves as an "ideological continuation" of the author's previous work on an earlier period (the second half of the 19th century to the first quarter of the 20th century). The issue of state-ideological influence on socio-cultural processes, which are directly reflected in the toponymic system, is of particular relevance today. This is because, within the current political context of building a new state model on the ruins of the Soviet system and the reorientation of the Russian state from the "West" to the "East," questions regarding the effectiveness, safety, and adequacy of measures applied to the population, social institutions, various spheres of societal life, and other states are more pressing than ever. Toponymy (in this case, the toponymic system of Pritom'e) serves as the primary instrument, source of information, and indicator of the nature of socio-cultural processes, and is therefore the main subject of this research. Regional trends in the transformation of toponymic systems and their degradation during the Soviet period were largely similar. Consequently, the experience of one system - its qualitative and quantitative data and their dynamics - can be correlated and extrapolated to other toponymic systems, and even to a global, allRussian level. This necessitates the application of comparative-historical, historical-genetic, structural-diachronic, and systemic methods, as well as content analysis, since toponymy has constantly evolved throughout historical retrospect. There are numerous toponymic systems, ranging from regional to global, and they all differ from one another. The toponymic system of Pritom'e is, first and foremost, a system with its own organizational principles and constituent elements. At different chronological stages, the toponymic system undergoes significant qualitative (e.g., lexical/linguistic composition) and quantitative transformations, making the documentation of such changes essential. As a result of this research, conclusions have been drawn regarding the qualitative stages in the transformation of the key organizational principle of the toponymic system. An analysis of factual material containing information on settlements - their establishment, transformation, and disappearance - has been conducted. Specific examples are provided to illustrate how the toponymic system evolved over time under the influence of socio-cultural processes driven by pronounced state-ideological influence from the 1920s to the 1980s. The author declares no conflicts of interests.
